Speedflow is an amazing tool to improve your workflow !
With this addon you can manage modifiers directly in the 3Dview.
1.Download the Addon in .Zip from Gumroad (don’t unzip it)
2. Open the preferences and go to the Add-ons Tab.
3. Click on Install From File and select you .zip
4. Activate the Addon.
5. change the addon preferences as you wish (mouse or pen, pie menu or simple menu, tab etc)
6. You can change modals settings too.
7. You can also change the text color, size, position etc.
8. Click on Save User Settings and close the Window, restart Blender if you changed options that needed a restart.
You can use the menu, the pie menu or the tab if you want.
To use the addon, you have to select an object or multiple objects and press CTRL + Shift + Q.
You will have the menu or the pie menu and you can use the modal of your choice, subsurf for example.
You have the keys at the bottom left where you can see the shortcuts, on this modal you can add a Subdiv Modifier, apply it with A, hide it with H, move the modifier in the stack with the UP and DOWN arrows, remove the modifier with DEL and exit the modal with LMB or ECHAP to exit without saving.
At the middle of the view you have usefull texts where you can see the numbers of sudbivisions and other settings.
You can activate Optimal Display with S and Open Subdiv with D for the subsurf Modifier.
All the modals works like that, Keys at the bottom left and usefull texts at the middel of the view (you can move, change the color of this text in the preferences).
You see all the shortcuts you can use, there is no hidden keys, so you don’t loose any options.
There is an example of the Subsurf modal.
As you can see, it’s pretty simple and fast.
Speedflow has 9 modals and on most of the modals you have a free navigation mode who allows you to change settings and navigate in the 3Dview.
You can also use digits input to add values directly and you can choose to use your mouse with the Wheel or a pen.
The addon works with both.
You can hide modifiers with H.
After applying your settings, you can edit your object and comeback in the modal if necessary.
The addon is really fast and allows you to work faster.
The Subsurf modal is pretty simple, select one or multiple objects and click on Adjust Subsurf.
you will be abble to add a Subsurf Modifier to the selected objects.
On each modals you have multiple options.
On the subsurf modal you can activate Optimal display with S and Open subdiv with D.
The keys at the bottom left allows you to Apply, Hide, Move UP/Down (the modifier in the stack), remove and exit the modal.
You can also increase the subdivisions with Shift.
With the Bevel Modal you can add or adjust a Bevel Modifier on one or multiple objects.
When you launch the modal you will be in Bevel Width mode, to change the Width.
You can change the settings on multiple objects and if they have differents settings, the other objects will copy the active object settings if you press RMB.
If you change settings, all the objects will have the same settings.
You can go in the Free Navigation mode or directly change other options like Segments with D and Profile with F.
You can also use digit inputs to change values.
The Bevel Modal allows you to work with Subdiv and Nosubdiv assets.
- Subdiv mode is for asset with subdiv modifiers.
- Nosubdiv mode is for asset without subdiv modifiers.
What’s the difference ?
In fact it’s pretty simple, depending on the asset you are working on, sometimes it’s simpler to not make the asset for subdiv.
This is usefull for hardsurface assets for example when the subdiv mode will be usefull for organic assets or even hard surface asset.
When we make a mesh for subdiv modeling, it’s a long process to clean the mesh with quad and tris. Some times it’s faster to make the asset without subdivisions, you just have to make a fast clean of the faces and that’s it, your asset is finish.
There is an example of asset without subdivisions.
As you can see this asset is not subdivised but the render is great because of the bevel modifier.
No need to subdivide it and no need to work hours to clean the mesh.
Speedflow allows you to work with Subdiv and Nosubdiv at the same time and you can change the settings in the preferences.
You can :
- Choose the mode (Subdiv/Nosubdiv) when you launch the modal.
- Change the Bevel settings (Bevel Width, Segments, Profile) for both modes.
- Activate the auto update in the Nosubdiv mode
- Keep the Wire showed after exiting the modal
When you are in the modal you can change the mode with E.
Like that you can use the good mode for your asset.
You can in each mode change Segments, Profile and Width and you can change the Limit Method with C to make a different bevel.
The bevel works with Bevel Weights, in Subdiv mode it’s a simple bevel weight to 1 and for the Nosubdiv mode it’s a Bevel Weight to 1, a sharp and a crease to 1 to give the best shading in the 3dview.
The addon keeps using the mode depending of the asset, if your asset is in Subdiv mode, when you will launch the modal, the mode will be in Subdiv mode.
If your asset is in Nosubdiv mode, the modal will be in Nosubdiv mode too.
Like that you can work with Subdiv and Nosubdiv in the same scene without having to change the mode of the modal.
On the subdiv mode, you can go in Edit Mode, select an edge or multiple edges and launch the modal, that will add a bevel on the selection.
You can also remove a bevel the same way, select the edges, launch the modal, no more bevel on those edges.
The Nosubdiv mode is full auto, you don’t need to select an edge and add a Bevel Weight to add a bevel, each time you will launch the modal, the edges will be updated.
The tool works like that :
- Select all edges.
- Clean sharps (Bevel Weight, Sharp, Creases).
- Select sharp edges (depending of the angle).
- Add sharps (Bevel Weight, Sharp, Creases).
You can of course select edges and add or remove bevels in the normal mode, but depending of the angle of the edge, the update of the modal will add and remove some edges.
You can ask to the modal to make an auto update too, in the preferences and in the modal himself with Q.
You can see the Red ON to show you that the auto Update is ON.
And the auto Update allow you to work without having to clean the Bevel Weight, so you don’t have to select the edges and clen the bevel weight on them.
The asset is updated when you launch the Bevel modal, no more clean, you don’t have to worry about those edges.
The Bevel Modal allows you to work with different bevel size too.
You just have to launch the modal and click on R.
The object will go in Edit Mode and you just have to select edges and launch the Modal to change the size of the bevels.
Like that you can have assets with different bevels size.
The asset is fully editable and this is really usefull.
Note that this methode works well with Cyclinders, not so well with Cubes.
– Booleans –
The modals of Speedflow are connected, so when you make a boolean, you will have an update of the Bevel Modifier.
Depending of the mode you use for your asset (Subdiv, Nosubdiv), you will have a different result.
On the subdiv mode, the bevel will be on the contour of the mesh and not on the inside, that allows you to clean your mesh yourself to have a perfect result.
As you can see the result is nice and you don’t have to remove the Bevel Weight yourself to add a normal bevel and finish your asset.
On the Nosubdiv mode, the Boolean update the Sharp Edges.
The result is perfect depending of what you do 😉
When you are in the modal you can click one time to go in Free Navigation mode, press RMB to update the Bevel with the Auto Update or press space to exit the modal with the modifications you made.
You go in the Free navigation mode.
You can Update without changing the width, update multiple objects with the width of the active object.
Perfect to update an asset.
Apply setting directly.
Some other modals uses the same system.
Like with the other modals, the Boolean modal allows you to add booleans from multiple objects at the same time.
You just have to select your objects and the last will be the one with the boolean modifier/s.
You can also navigate between modifiers with the arrow keys.
When you add a boolean, you can change the Operation, Union S, Difference D and Intersection F.
As you can see, you can switch between modifiers and change the Operation easilly.
When you added a Boolean and exit the modal, you can modify your bool object, you just have to select the current object with booleans and launch the modal.
Like that, you will be abble to continue editing your modifier to apply it for example.
You can Apply the Boolean with A, remove the modifier with DEL, switch modifiers with Left/Right arrows, Hide a modifier with H and exit the modifier without saving with ECHAP.
And continue to edit other modifiers.
With E you can keep the boolean object or delete it.
You can decide in the preferences if the boolean object will be automatically deleted.
With R, you can make a rebool, a reverse of the boolean.
And as you have seen in the Bevel section, the modals of speedflow are connected and when you apply a boolean, that will update the bevel modifier, depending of the mode of the object, Subdiv or Nosubdiv.
The Array Modal allows you to add Array modifiers really fast.
You can change axis, add other axis, switch between modifiers etc.
To change the axis of an array, you just have to press X, Y or Z.
To add axis, you just have to press Shift + X, Y or Z.
You can remove an array with DEL or Apply it with A.
To edit your array, you can press S to change the count, D to change the offset.
By default you are in relative mode, you can switch in constant mode by pressing F.
This is usefull if you edit your object scale after adding an array to keep the distance between each array.
You can change the default settings in the preferences.
You can switch between modifiers and edit them directly in the modal.
You can also make an array on curve by selecting a curve and your mesh, that will automatically create the array on the curve.
You can change the offset with D.
If you want to use another object for this array, you can press P and select the other object.
You can make cables with Start E and End R caps.
Select the curve, the object to add the Array, then in the modal, press E to add the Start Cap and R to add the End Cap.
After you can edit your curve to place your cable. Don’t hesitate to add it to the Asset Management Addon 😉
You can also combine modifiers to have exactly what you want.
The Solidify modal allows you to add a Solidify Modifier on your selection.
You also have multiple options.
When you launch the modal, you are in Thickness mode and you can change the Thickness with the Pen, the mouse or the keyboard digit inputs.
You can change the Offset with D.
1 – Normal Offset
0 – Center Offset to extrude both sides of the face.
You can activate Even Offset with F.
You can Fill Rim with G, show Only rim with C and Add crease with E (usefull if you add a Subsurf Modifier with T).
The Keys allows you to Add Bevel Modifier with R, Subsurf with T, Apply, with A, Hide with H, move UP/Down with Arrows Up and Down, Remove with DEL, Echap without saving with ESC.
The Rotate Modal allows you to rotate objects with increments.
You are directly in 45° increments, it allows you to rotate really fast your objects.
You can change the Axis by pressing X, Y or Z.
You can also change the increments, Shift for 10° and Ctrl for 5° when rotating.
If your object is already rotated, you can make the rotate in local mode with D.
For one objects or multiple objects, the last object selected will be the one the modal uses for the local axis.
It’s important to change the pivot to Active Element in this case.
And as you can see, you can change the pivot when rotating, it’s really usefull.
You can also move the cursor directly in the modal with F !
When you place the cursor, the pivot is directly in Cursor mode, you just have to choose the axis of rotation and make your rotation.
You can choose in the preferences the default axis rotation.
The Tubify Modal allows you to create tube in one click.
You just have to select your curve and launch the modal.
You can change the Depth with S, the U resolution with D and V resolution with F.
Like other modals you have the free navigation mode to move, rotate around your object.
You can convert your object in polygons with A or delete the Tubify with DEL.
You can also create a Tubify on a mesh with only edges and do wathever you want with it.
If you look at the Keys, you will see more options.
You can make the curve cyclic to close it with G.
You can add a profile for the curve by pressing F and selecting a new profile.
You can delete the profile with O.
You can also directly create the Tubify with the profile you want.
You can add an Edge Split Modifier, it’s usefull at some case.
And change the type of the curve directly in the modal with R (Bezier/Poly).
The Symmetrize Modal allows you to make a symmetrize on multiple objects on multiple axis (X, Y and Z)
You just have to select your objects and launch the modal Symmetrize.
When you launch the modal, the Axis will be the one you choosed in the preferences, +X or -X, depending of your workflow.
The Symmetrize will be on +X for me, you can remove the symmetrize with Alt + the axis.
For example if you want a Z symmetrize, make Alt + X, and then click on Z. You have to click to the direction you want your symmetrize.
As you can see this is really usefull and you can chose the axis you want.
You can also combine axis with Shift + the axis you want.
Like that you can modify the asset as you want, this is fast and easy.
The Mirror Modal allows you to make a mirror in one click.
You just have to select your object and launch the modal.
In this example we have an open mesh and placed at the center of the grid.
when launching the modal, you will have your mirror and you can see some options, Merge D and Clipping C.
Merge do a merge of the vertices at the center and Clipping prevent vertices from going throug the mirror during transform.
You can add a mirror from a selection, select your object as reference and the object who will be mirrored.
The mirror modal allows you to add multiple axis with Shift + (X,Y or Z).
You can also remove axis with Alt + (X,Y or Z).
Since you use a reference mesh, you can rotate and move your object, it’s really usefull.
You can also move the reference object.
You can combine multiple modifiers to make a simple mirror, add a mirror object, edit your object, move it, rotate it, add a bevel etc.
You can come back on the modal, switch between modifiers, apply or delete it/them.
If you don’t have any reference object to make your mirror, you can add one with S.
Like other modals, you can check the Keys.
To update the addon it’s pretty simple.
Download the lastest build on Gumroad or the blender Market.
For gumroad you should have received an email with the new version inside.
You can also use the receive you add when purshasing the addon, you have to follow the link to go on the site and download the lastest build. So check witch email you used to buy the addon.
Lot of people forgot witch email they used to purchasse addons on gumroad.
To update the addon, remove the addon in the preferences.
Restart blender and install the addon with the new version with Install from file.
Activate the addon.

What is the difference with Hardops ?
Hardops is a great addon to make Nosubdiv modeling, Speedflow is completly different.
Speedflow is 9 modals to work on differents types of modeling, Subdiv, Nosubdiv, Curves etc.
You can make Symmetrize/Bevel/Rotate/Tubify, Solidify, Mirror, Booleans, Subsurf on multiple objetcs at the same time with a lot of options and without any other addon needed !
You can work in full screen, manage modifiers, combine modals, Bevel, Array, Mirror etc.
Speedflow is a new way to work on blender, it’s fast, efficient and powerfull.

In Nosubdiv, do we need to clean the mesh ?
In Nosubdiv we work with Booleans, so we have a lot of Ngons. On blender it’s not an issue, but on other softwares that can be an issue.
You can clean your face with the triangulater, apply the Bevel Modifier and export your object.
You can also use this object as reference to make a normal map of a low poly model.
In subdiv mode, why would I use Booleans ?
People are scarred with Ngons, they thinks, booleans will add a lot of Ngons and the mesh will be difficult to clean.
Speedflow Add bevels only on the contour of a boolean, like that you can clean really fast your mesh.
The boolean workflow is really fast and with speedflow, the cleanning and finishing is fast too, so, why not use it ?
I use in my professional work Subdiv and Nosubdiv assets, because it’s really fast to make both and clean both, the addon allows you to work with both in the same scene, so you should try it, this is a nice workflow.
Can I use the subdiv/Nosubdiv workflow on big and final scenes ?
Yes, the addon works really well with both and in fact you should use this workflow to be faster and make more detailed assets.
Can I use an asset made with speedflow on a blender without the addon ?
Yes you can, you will just have to do everything by hand, edit modifiers, settings by settings ^^
